Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older who had a type of major surgery called a Whipple's procedure (removal of part of the pancreas and surrounding structures) between April 2018 and December 2023, with the goal of curing their condition, and who received their post-surgery care at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
- Healthy adults who are similar in age, sex, body weight, and smoking status to the surgical participants (for a comparison group)
Who may not be able to join:
- People under the age of 18
- People who are unable to complete questionnaires or tests due to difficulties with the English language or with memory and thinking
- People who have active or returning pancreatic cancer, or whose surgery was not intended to cure their condition
- People who have other gut or digestive conditions that could affect gut symptoms or gut bacteria, such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or Coeliac disease, or who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are currently taking medications or following a diet that may affect gut symptoms or gut bacteria
