Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You speak Swedish fluently
  • Your vision and hearing are normal, or can be corrected to normal (for example, with glasses or hearing aids)
  • You have recently been given a brand-new diagnosis of major depression (MDD) or stress-related exhaustion disorder (SED) at a recent doctor's visit (this applies to participants joining as "cases")

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are already receiving treatment for depression or exhaustion disorder, or you were diagnosed with either condition within the past year
  • You have a history of serious mental illness that required you to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital
  • You have had a stroke or severe head injury in the last 6 months
  • You have a known problem with memory, thinking, or cognitive functioning
  • You have had, or currently have, a dependence on alcohol or drugs
  • You have a physical condition affecting your hands or movement that would make it difficult to use digital tests on a screen or device
  • You have epilepsy or migraines triggered by flashing or flickering lights
  • If you are taking part in the MRI scanning part of the study, you cannot have anything in or on your body that makes an MRI scan unsafe (confirm with trial site)
