Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a confirmed diagnosis of a specific type of pancreatic cancer called pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).
- People whose main pancreatic tumour can be surgically removed, as shown on a specialised type of CT scan.
- People with no more than 3 cancer spots (metastases) in the liver.
- People whose liver metastases can be removed through a minor or limited liver operation — or people whose liver metastases completely disappeared on scans after pre-surgery chemotherapy (called FOLFIRINOX), meaning no liver surgery would be needed.
- People with no signs of cancer that has spread outside the liver.
- People who are well enough to undergo pancreatic surgery, as measured by a standard fitness scale (ECOG score of 0 or 1, meaning fully active or able to carry out light activity).
- People whose cancer has stayed stable or shrunk on scans after receiving pre-surgery FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy.
- People who have not developed any new areas of cancer spread after pre-surgery FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy.
- People whose blood tumour markers have dropped by at least 80%, or have returned to normal levels, after pre-surgery FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy.
Who may not be able to join:
- People for whom a tissue sample (biopsy) confirming the pancreatic cancer diagnosis cannot be obtained before surgery.
- People whose cancer is considered locally advanced (meaning it has grown into nearby structures and cannot be removed), as shown on a specialised CT scan.
- People with more than 3 liver metastases.
- People who would need a large portion of the liver removed (a major liver operation) to treat their liver metastases.
- People with suspected or confirmed cancer spread to areas outside the liver.
- People who are not well enough to undergo pancreatic surgery, as measured by a standard fitness scale (ECOG score of 2 or higher).
- People who have a medical reason they cannot receive FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy.
