Who may be able to join

  • People who are willing to take part voluntarily, have signed a consent form, and are able to follow the study requirements.
  • People who have been confirmed through a tissue or cell sample to have limited-stage small-cell lung cancer (a specific early stage where the cancer has not spread widely, classified as T1-3, N0-2, M0).
  • People between 18 and 75 years of age; there is no restriction based on gender.
  • People whose general physical functioning is rated at a level of 0, 1, or 2 on a standard medical scale (ECOG scale), meaning they are able to carry out at least some daily activities (confirm with trial site).
  • People whose life expectancy is estimated to be at least 3 months.
  • People who have not previously received any anti-cancer treatment specifically for small-cell lung cancer.
  • People who have at least one area of cancer that can be measured using standard imaging criteria (RECIST v1.1).
  • People whose blood cell counts meet minimum levels before starting treatment: white blood cell count (specifically neutrophils), platelets, and haemoglobin must all be above certain thresholds (confirm exact values with trial site).
  • People whose kidneys are working well enough, based on blood or urine tests measuring kidney function.
  • People whose liver is working well enough, based on blood tests measuring liver enzymes and bilirubin levels.
  • People whose blood clotting function falls within an acceptable range, based on a standard clotting test (INR).
  • People who are capable of having children must agree to use contraception during the study.
  • People who are physically able to tolerate chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and surgery.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who have already received any anti-cancer treatment for small-cell lung cancer, including chemotherapy or radiation therapy directed at the tumour.
  • People who have previously been treated with immune checkpoint inhibitor drugs, such as PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitors.
  • People who have a history of interstitial lung disease, non-infectious lung inflammation, pulmonary fibrosis, acute lung disease, or other uncontrolled systemic conditions.
  • People who need ongoing systemic antibiotic, antifungal, or antiviral treatment for a severe or active infection, including tuberculosis.
  • People who are known to have HIV.
  • People who have active hepatitis B or hepatitis C.
  • People who have an active autoimmune disease, or a history of an autoimmune disease that could come back.
  • People who need to take corticosteroid medicines or other treatments that suppress the immune system on an ongoing basis.
  • People who, in the opinion of the study doctor, have other health conditions that could put them at serious risk or affect their ability to complete the study.
  • People who have had major surgery in the 4 weeks before starting treatment, or who have a significant recent injury, fracture, or a wound that has not yet healed.
  • People who have serious heart conditions, such as severe heart failure, severe chest pain (angina), a heart attack in the past 6 months, or an irregular heartbeat that requires medication.
  • People who have other health conditions that make surgery unsafe for them.
  • People who have had an allergic reaction to the study drug or any of its ingredients.
