Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with rectal adenocarcinoma (a specific type of rectal cancer) confirmed by laboratory testing of tissue
- People whose cancer has been assessed by MRI scan as Stage II (cancer has grown into or through the rectal wall but has not spread to nearby lymph nodes) or Stage III (cancer may be at any stage of local growth and has spread to nearby lymph nodes)

- People whose cancer has not spread to other parts of the body
- People who have not previously had radiation therapy to the pelvic area

Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to have an MRI scan
- People who are currently receiving or plan to receive other cancer treatments or experimental therapies
- People whose body weight relative to their height (BMI) is below 18.5 or above 40 (confirm with trial site for how this is calculated)
- People experiencing serious or hard-to-treat loss of muscle and weight, or loss of appetite
- People who have diabetes that requires insulin to manage
- People who are currently taking, or need to take, protein or amino acid nutritional supplement drinks or products (such as Ensure®)
- People who have a medical condition that means they cannot eat high-fat or fatty foods
- People who have a confirmed food allergy
- People who have an active wound or skin graft that would require extra protein intake to support healing
