Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are 40 years of age or older
  • People who have been diagnosed with idiopathic (no known cause) Parkinson's disease, based on the MDS diagnostic criteria from 2015
  • People whose Parkinson's medication has not been changed or adjusted in the 4 weeks before the study begins, and who are able to keep it unchanged throughout the entire study
  • People whose motor symptoms score at least 8 on a standard Parkinson's assessment scale (MDS-UPDRS Part III), and whose disease stage falls between 1 and 4 on the Hoehn-Yahr scale
  • People who score 22 or above on a standard memory and thinking test (MMSE), and who are able to participate in behaviour tests and a brain stimulation treatment called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose previous brain MRI or CT scan showed a focused area of brain damage, or significant changes to the brain's white matter (rated Fazekas grade 3 or higher)
  • People whose Parkinson's-like symptoms are caused by another condition, such as vascular disease, another neurological disorder, or medication
  • People who have had a severe head injury, brain surgery, or deep brain stimulation treatment
  • People who have any magnetic metal implants in their body, such as a cochlear implant or a heart pacemaker
  • People who have a history of epilepsy, unexplained loss of consciousness, or who are currently taking medication to control seizures
  • People who have been diagnosed with a mental health or neurological condition other than Parkinson's disease
  • People who have a history of drug abuse or recreational drug use
  • People who have taken part in any other clinical trial within the past 6 months
  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or anyone (including men) who is planning to have a child within the next 6 months
  • People considered unsuitable for the trial for any other reason, as determined by the study doctor (confirm with trial site)
