  • People who have persistent atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm lasting 7 days or more) that is still causing symptoms after already having a procedure called pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) to treat it

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose atrial fibrillation has been continuous for 12 months or longer
  • People who have serious problems with their heart valves
  • People whose left atrial chamber (a section of the heart) is too large in volume, measuring more than 150mL
  • People whose left atrial chamber measures more than 60mm in a specific dimension measured by heart scan (confirm with trial site)
  • People whose heart's central dividing wall (septum) measures more than 15mm thick
  • People who are not expected to live longer than one year
  • People who weigh more than 150 kg
  • People who have any medical reason that makes a catheter ablation procedure (a procedure using thin, flexible tubes to correct heart rhythm) unsafe or unsuitable for them
