Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged between 18 and 70 years old
  • People who have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (a serious form of depression), either a single episode or recurring episodes, confirmed using a standard diagnostic interview

  • People who are currently showing active thoughts of suicide (as measured by a specific score on a clinical rating scale — confirm with trial site)
  • People who are pregnant
  • People who have ever been diagnosed with bipolar disorder (type I or II), schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, schizophreniform disorder, delusional disorder, or who are currently experiencing psychotic symptoms
  • People who have a metal implant in their body or any other condition that would normally prevent someone from having an MRI or TMS procedure (confirm with trial site)
  • People who take anti-seizure medications or sedative medications (benzodiazepines) at a dose above a certain daily threshold
  • People whose psychiatric medication was newly started or had its dose changed within the 4 weeks before the screening appointment
  • People who have previously undergone TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, a type of brain stimulation therapy) at any point in the past
