Who may be able to join

  • People who have been newly diagnosed with advanced or metastatic small-cell lung cancer (either stage III that cannot be treated with curative radiation and chemotherapy combined, or stage IV).
  • People who have a tumor tissue sample available — either a recent biopsy taken during routine care or a stored sample taken no more than 6 months before the screening process begins.
  • People who are planned to receive, or are currently receiving, a standard first-line treatment combination of carboplatin or cisplatin, etoposide, and durvalumab — and where the pre-screening process begins no later than the start of the third treatment cycle.
  • People who have chest and abdominal CT or MRI scan results available from within 42 days before starting that first-line treatment combination.
  • People who have at least one area of disease that can be measured on scans, according to standard measurement guidelines (RECIST v1.1).
  • People whose tumor sample has tested positive for a specific genetic marker called homologous recombination deficiency (HRD), confirmed through central laboratory testing as part of this trial's pre-screening process.
  • People whose disease has not progressed (gotten worse on scans or symptoms) while on the initial treatment phase.
  • People who have completed exactly 4 cycles (each 21 days long) of the initial treatment with carboplatin or cisplatin, etoposide, and durvalumab, finishing between 1 and 14 days before starting the study treatment — and who received durvalumab at least 3 times during those 4 cycles.
  • People whose organ and bone marrow function meet the levels required by the trial (confirm with trial site for specific thresholds).

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who received a different initial treatment combination than carboplatin or cisplatin, etoposide, and durvalumab (note: one cycle without durvalumab may be permitted — confirm with trial site).
  • People whose cancer has shown signs of progression on scans or through symptoms.
  • People who previously went through the pre-screening process for this trial and received a negative HRD test result.
  • People who have brain or central nervous system (CNS) spread of their cancer that is causing symptoms and is not well controlled.
  • People who have compression of the spinal cord, unless they have already received full treatment for it and their condition has been stable for at least 28 days.
  • People who have a history of cancer spreading to the lining around the brain and spinal cord (leptomeningeal carcinomatosis).
  • People who still have unresolved side effects rated at a moderate level or above (Grade 2 or higher) from previous cancer treatment — though certain exceptions may apply, including hair loss, a skin pigmentation condition called vitiligo, a stable thyroid condition managed with medication, nerve-related side effects (assessed individually), or certain permanent side effects not expected to be worsened by this trial's treatments (confirm with trial site for all exceptions).
