Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between the ages of 40 and 80
- People who are comfortable speaking and writing in English
- People who have been diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease by a neurologist, at stages 1 to 3 (on a standard scale measuring disease progression) when their medication or brain stimulation treatment is working
- People who are currently experiencing symptoms of depression
- People who are able to attend in-person visits at UCSF as well as online appointments
- People who have an active primary care doctor, neurologist, or psychiatrist who is involved in managing their care
Who may not be able to join:
- People experiencing psychotic symptoms that involve a loss of awareness or insight into their condition
- People with significant problems with memory or thinking (cognitive impairment)
- People who regularly take medications that may interact in a problematic way with psilocybin
- People who have a health condition that study doctors determine would make participation unsafe or not possible
