  • You have previously been diagnosed with high blood pressure that has been difficult to control with medication (known as "resistant hypertension")
  • You have been on a stable medication routine for this condition for at least 6 months

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have high blood pressure caused by another underlying medical condition (such as a hormonal or kidney-related cause)
  • You have heart failure, blocked arteries in the legs, an irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation), a chronic lung condition, or kidney failure
  • You have had a stroke or serious heart event in the past 3 months
  • You have made any changes to your blood pressure medications in the past 6 months
  • You already exercise regularly (attending exercise sessions 2 or more times per week in the past 3 months)
  • You have any medical reason that would make exercise unsafe for you
  • You have a neurological or joint/bone condition that would stop you from taking part in exercise, such as Parkinson's disease or severe knee arthritis
  • You score below 6 out of 8 on a questionnaire measuring how consistently you take your medications (called the MMAS-8) (confirm with trial site)
