Who might be able to join this trial:
CRC (Colorectal Cancer) Group:
- People aged 18 or older who have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer based on a colonoscopy result
- People whose doctor has already decided they need a colonoscopy
- People who are willing to have a stool test, colonoscopy, and tissue sample taken
- People who have health insurance coverage
- People who are able to follow all study procedures and have signed a consent form agreeing to take part
Control Group – People with risk factors and polyps found:
- People aged 18 or older who are generally healthy but have recognised risk factors for colorectal cancer, such as a family history, obesity, smoking, high alcohol use, or high cholesterol
- People who received a clear (no cancer) result from their colonoscopy, but polyps were found
- People willing to have a stool test, colonoscopy, and tissue sample taken
- People whose health insurance covers colonoscopy screening based on their risk factors or symptoms
Control Group – People with risk factors and no polyps found:
- People aged 18 or older who are generally healthy but have recognised risk factors for colorectal cancer, such as a family history, obesity, smoking, high alcohol use, or high cholesterol
- People who received a clear (no cancer) result from their colonoscopy, with no polyps found
- People willing to have a stool test, colonoscopy, and tissue sample taken
- People whose health insurance covers colonoscopy screening based on their risk factors or symptoms
Control Group – People with no risk factors:
- People aged 40 or older who are generally healthy and have none of the recognised risk factors for colorectal cancer
- People who are willing to have a stool test
- People who have received a negative stool test result
Who may not be able to join:
For the Colorectal Cancer Group:
- People who are legally unable to make their own decisions or have limited legal capacity to do so
- People who have not signed the consent form
- People whose doctor considers their current health condition too unstable to safely have a blood test, stool test, or breath test
- People who have had surgery in the past 6–8 weeks or are currently receiving treatment for colorectal cancer
For all Control Groups:
- People who are legally unable to make their own decisions or have limited legal capacity to do so
- People who have not signed the consent form
- People who have previously had any type of cancer
- People who have a digestive system disorder or another serious ongoing or sudden illness
