Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been newly diagnosed with multiple myeloma
- People whose doctors have determined that a stem cell transplant (using their own stem cells) is an appropriate treatment for them
- People who are either fully active or have only minor limitations in daily physical activity (as measured by a standard medical scale called ECOG, scoring 0 or 1)
- People whose doctors expect them to live for at least 3 months
- People who are able to understand the study details and agree to participate by signing a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People with moderate-to-severe heart problems, or whose heart is pumping less than 40% of its normal capacity
- People with significantly elevated levels of a substance called direct bilirubin in their blood, indicating possible liver problems (confirm with trial site)
- People with significantly elevated levels of certain liver enzymes (AST or ALT) in their blood, suggesting liver stress or damage
- People whose kidneys are filtering blood at a reduced rate of 30% or below
- People who currently have an active infection
- People who have previously undergone a procedure to collect stem cells from their blood (called hematopoietic stem cell mobilisation)
