Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People between the ages of 20 and 50 years old, of any gender.
  • People who have had ongoing pain in the buttock and hip area for more than 3 months, rated at least 3 out of 10 on a pain scale.
  • People whose piriformis muscle (a muscle deep in the buttock) is found to be shortened, shown by limited inward rotation of the hip (less than 30 degrees) during a physical assessment.
  • People who score at least 8 out of 12 on a clinical scoring system used to assess their condition (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have at least two positive results on specific screening tests for their condition (confirm with trial site).

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who currently have an active infection.
  • People who have nerve pain coming from the lower spine (such as a pinched nerve in the lower back).
  • People who have a problem with the sacroiliac joint, which connects the lower spine to the pelvis.
  • People who have been diagnosed with any form of cancer.
  • People who have a history of physical trauma to the relevant area.
  • People who have had a hip replacement surgery.
  • People who have rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis.
  • People who have any diagnosed neurological condition affecting the nervous system.
