Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older at the time of signing the consent form
- People who are willing and able to sign a consent form (or have a legal representative do so) and are able to attend all study visits and take part in all examinations
- People who have been diagnosed with diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2) and have a history of diabetic macular edema (a condition where fluid builds up in the central part of the retina) lasting 5 years or less before the first screening visit
- People whose blood sugar control measure (HbA1c, a long-term blood sugar test) is 10.0 or below while being managed by a qualified diabetes doctor, unless that doctor allows for some variation
- People who have vision in at least one eye that is 20/40 or worse, but no worse than 20/400, as measured by a specific eye chart test used in diabetes eye studies
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been diagnosed with any form of glaucoma (based on a specific measurement of the optic nerve) or high pressure in the eye above a certain level, where treatment — either medication or surgery — has been needed
- People who have a history of eye pressure rising above a certain level as a reaction to steroid medications
- People who have active advanced diabetic eye disease involving the growth of abnormal new blood vessels in or around the eye, or bleeding inside the eye linked to those abnormal blood vessels
