Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 50 and 80 years old
- People who have been medically diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD)
- People whose Parkinson's disease falls within stages I to IV on a standard scale used to measure how advanced the condition is (the Hoehn & Yahr Scale)
- People whose Parkinson's disease medications have been at a stable, unchanged dose for a period of time
- People who have mild to moderate difficulties with speech clarity related to Parkinson's disease (called dysarthria)
- People who score 25 or above on a standard memory and thinking test called the MMSE, indicating no significant cognitive impairment
- People who score 24 or below on a standard mood questionnaire called the BDI-III, indicating depression symptoms are within a certain range
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have an atypical form of parkinsonism, or any other neurological condition, at the time of screening
- People who have previously had a type of brain surgery for Parkinson's disease known as deep brain stimulation (DBS)
- People who received an intensive voice or speech treatment program less than three months before joining this study
- People who have a speech or voice condition that is not related to their Parkinson's disease
