Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with pancreatic head cancer (either confirmed by tissue biopsy or agreed upon by a specialist medical team), who have yellowing of the skin caused by the tumour blocking the bile duct, and who are planned to have a major surgery to remove the affected part of the pancreas
- People whose scans show the tumour can be fully removed by surgery
- People whose blood bilirubin level (a substance that causes jaundice) is at or above 250μmol/L before treatment, and who have not yet had any procedure to drain the bile duct
- People aged between 19 and 75 years old
- People who have a general health and activity level that falls within an acceptable range as assessed by a standard medical scoring system (confirm with trial site)
- People who have given written consent to participate, and whose suitability for a bile duct drainage procedure and surgery timing has been assessed
Who may not be able to join:
- People who also have another type of cancer
- People who have other serious or uncontrolled health conditions or organ problems that would make surgery unsafe
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who are unable to safely undergo the bile duct drainage procedure or the planned surgery
- People whose situation is considered unsuitable for other reasons not listed above (confirm with trial site)
