Who might be able to join this trial:

For people with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (a condition where pressure inside the skull is too high for no clear reason):

• Adults aged 18 or older
• People who have recently been diagnosed with idiopathic intracranial hypertension for the first time, or whose condition has returned after a period of improvement
• Non-smokers
• People who have signed a consent form agreeing to participate

For healthy volunteers (used as a comparison group, matched by age and sex):

• Adults aged 18 or older
• People with normal eye health findings, unless the trial doctor considers any minor difference to be unimportant
• People with a generally normal medical history, unless the trial doctor considers any minor difference to be unimportant
• Non-smokers
• People who have signed a consent form agreeing to participate

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have donated blood in the three weeks before the study starts
• People who have had a significant illness in the three weeks before the study starts
• People who have had an eye inflammation or infection in the past three months
• People who have a personal or family history of epilepsy
• People with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes
• People with a history of, or known, blood vessel problems in the brain (such as abnormal connections between blood vessels, aneurysms, or blocked or narrowed major arteries)
• People with a history of, or known, infections inside the skull (such as meningitis)
• People with a history of, or known, other neurological conditions (such as brain tumours, fluid build-up on the brain, or degenerative brain diseases)
• People currently taking corticosteroid or immunosuppressant medications (medicines that reduce inflammation or suppress the immune system)
• Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Women who could become pregnant and are not using effective contraception (this does not apply to women who have been through menopause, had a hysterectomy, or been surgically sterilised)
