Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 16 years or older who can speak and read Arabic
- People who have been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes for at least 6 months
- People whose blood sugar is not well controlled, meaning their HbA1c blood test result is 7% or higher, and/or their fasting blood sugar level is above 130 mg/dl
- People who have been on the same diabetes treatment plan for the last 3 months
- People (or their parents, if applicable) who agree to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have hearing, speech, or thinking/understanding difficulties that would make it hard to answer questions or take part in education sessions
- People who have certain other health conditions alongside their diabetes, such as asthma, thyroid problems, adrenal gland disorders, coeliac disease, or significant kidney problems
- People who are currently taking corticosteroid medications (a type of steroid medicine)
- People whose insulin treatment plan needs to be changed, or whose insulin dose needs to be increased by more than 20%
- People with conditions that affect how their red blood cells work or turn over, such as certain types of anaemia, G6PD deficiency, a recent blood transfusion, use of medicines that stimulate red blood cell production, end-stage kidney disease, or pregnancy
- People who do not wish to participate
