Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are older than 18 years of age
- People who have had an acute (sudden-onset) stroke caused by a blood clot, with the stroke occurring within the last 14 days
- People who have been diagnosed with a type of irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation (AF) that is not caused by a heart valve problem — either before this hospital stay or during it

- People whose atrial fibrillation is temporary and caused by another treatable condition
- People whose life expectancy is estimated to be less than one year
- People who are unlikely to be able to attend follow-up appointments — for example, those without a fixed address or those living overseas
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- People who are already participating in another clinical trial that could affect how the results of this study are interpreted
- People who the trial investigator considers unsuitable for participation for other reasons, or for whom participation may carry significant risk (confirm with trial site)
