Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are at least 18 years old at the time you give your consent to participate
- You have been diagnosed with a major depressive episode based on standard psychiatric diagnostic criteria (DSM-5)
- You score at a certain level on a depression rating scale, or the lead researcher considers you an appropriate candidate (confirm with trial site)
- You are either not currently taking antidepressants, or you are willing to continue taking your current antidepressants throughout the entire study

- You do not have any planned changes to your employment situation after the study begins
Who may not be able to join:
- You are considered at high risk of suicide, including having thoughts of suicide or a history of suicide attempts
- You have previously been hospitalised due to depression or suicidal behaviour
- You currently have or have a history of addiction to drugs or alcohol
- You have a brain condition or disease, such as a neurodegenerative condition or significant brain lesion (confirm with trial site)
- You have a history of seizures or epilepsy
- You have a serious or unstable physical health condition
- You are unable to have an MRI scan, or an MRI scan is not suitable or safe for you
- You are pregnant, or you are not willing to use contraception during the study
- You are currently in another clinical trial, have been in one within the last 90 days, or plan to join another trial during this study — if the researchers feel this could affect results
- The lead researcher determines for any other reason that it would not be safe for you to take part
