Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who are currently receiving services, or are eligible to receive services, at the sites where the trial is recruiting
• People who can read and speak English
• People who are at least 50 years old
• People who have at least moderate symptoms of depression at the screening stage, as measured by a standard questionnaire called the PHQ-9 (a score of 8 or higher)
• People who are not currently in therapy outside the trial must agree not to start any outside therapy while taking part; people who are already in outside therapy must agree not to increase how often those sessions occur during the study

Who may not be able to join:

• People who show signs of probable dementia, based on a memory and orientation assessment
• People who are assessed as being at moderate or high risk of suicide, based on a standard rating scale
• People who have a terminal illness with less than six months to live, or who have unstable physical health conditions (based on self-report)
• People who have been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder (based on self-report and medical records)
• People with severe vision impairment, including those who are legally blind (based on self-report)
• People who currently have a substance use disorder or who are currently receiving treatment for substance use
• People who are currently receiving outside therapy more than once a month, or who started a new therapy treatment less than three months ago
