Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with gout (based on 2015 international gout classification guidelines) and are not currently having a gout flare-up.
- Your blood uric acid level is higher than 420 µmol/L (7 mg/dl) at the screening visit.
- Your blood uric acid level has previously been measured above 420 µmol/L (7 mg/dl) on a normal diet (confirmed on more than one test, not taken twice on the same day while fasting).
Who may not be able to join:
- You have taken medications that lower or affect uric acid levels (such as allopurinol, febuxostat, benzbromarone, or probenecid, among others) within the 14 days before joining, or you are unable to stop taking such medications during the study.
- You have had an acute gout flare-up within the 14 days before joining the trial.
- You have previously been treated with uric acid-breaking medications such as pegloticase or rasburicase.
- You have a personal history of, or low enzyme activity levels related to, a condition called G6PD deficiency (a genetic enzyme disorder affecting red blood cells).
- You have a history of, or meet the diagnostic criteria for, a condition called catalase deficiency (confirm with trial site).
- You have been diagnosed with any type of cancer, whether or not it has been treated.
