Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have had an arm amputated at the forearm or upper arm level, or a leg amputated at the lower leg or thigh level.
• People aged between 18 and 65 years.
• People whose amputation took place at least 6 months ago.
• People who have ongoing, persistent chronic pain rated between 4 and 10 on a pain scale of 0 to 10.
• Female participants who are confirmed not to be pregnant at the time of the procedure (confirmed by a pregnancy test).
• People who have given signed consent to take part in the study.

Who may not be able to join:

• People with serious medical conditions that would make surgery or study participation unsafe.
• People with a history of psychiatric disorders, severe depression, suicidal thoughts, or previous suicide attempts.
• People with a significant bone or joint deformity in the limb above the amputation site.
• People with a history of cancer.
• People with a history of epilepsy.
• People with a complicated brain injury or a history of stroke.
• People whose medical conditions make electrical nerve stimulation treatment unsafe or unsuitable (confirm with trial site).
• People with an active serious infection or sepsis.
• People with a history of drug addiction.
• People with a birth-related difference in upper limb development.
• People with differences in the development of the brain or nervous system.
