Who may be able to join

  • People who have given written consent after being fully informed about the trial.
  • People aged 18 years or older.
  • People with a confirmed diagnosis of Extensive Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer (ES-SCLC), which means the cancer has spread beyond one lung.
  • People with a good general health and activity level, able to carry out normal daily activities with little or no limitation (confirm with trial site what this score means for a specific situation).
  • People who have not had any previous systemic (whole-body) cancer treatment, except for an initial course of immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy for ES-SCLC.
  • People whose cancer showed a partial response or remained stable after 4 to 6 cycles of that initial treatment combining an immune checkpoint drug with platinum-based chemotherapy and etoposide, with the last tumour assessment done no more than 28 days before joining the trial.
  • People assessed by a radiation specialist as suitable to receive radiotherapy to the chest, based on safe dose limits for the surrounding lung tissue.
  • People who have cancer that has spread to the brain but whose brain metastases are stable and not causing symptoms.
  • People with adequately functioning bone marrow, kidneys, and liver.
  • People of childbearing potential who are willing to use effective contraception throughout the study and for 6 months after the last dose of the study drug.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People who have previously received radiotherapy to the chest.
  • People with a history of certain lung conditions, such as pulmonary fibrosis, or any form of lung inflammation (pneumonitis), including drug-related or unexplained causes, or who show signs of active lung inflammation on a chest scan at screening.
  • People who test positive for hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis C virus RNA, or HIV.
  • People whose cancer has spread to the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord (leptomeningeal metastasis).
  • People with cancer-related pain that is not well controlled.
  • People with uncontrolled fluid build-up around the lungs, heart, or abdomen that requires drainage procedures once a month or more often.
  • People who have had another cancer (other than non-small cell lung cancer) within the past 5 years, unless that cancer was treated with an expected curative outcome.
  • People with an active autoimmune disease, a history of autoimmune disease, or a condition that weakens the immune system.
  • People with significant heart or blood vessel problems, such as a moderate-to-severe heart condition, a heart attack or stroke within the past 3 months, or unstable heart rhythm or chest pain.
  • People who have had a major surgical procedure (not including surgery only for diagnosis) within 4 weeks before joining, or who are expected to need major surgery during the trial.
