Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are willing to sign an agreement to participate and are able to attend scheduled visits, including long-term follow-up check-ins for up to 15 years
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You have been diagnosed with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma and have already tried at least 3 previous treatments, including at least one from two specific drug types (proteasome inhibitors and immunomodulators); or you have a related condition called relapsed/refractory plasma cell leukemia and have had at least 1 prior treatment
- Your disease has continued to grow or spread during or after your most recent treatment
- Your disease can be measured and tracked using standard tests (confirm with trial site for specific measurements required)
- Your doctors expect you to live for more than 12 weeks
- You are generally able to carry out everyday activities with little or no difficulty (rated 0 or 1 on a standard activity scale)
- Your blood, kidney, liver, and other body function tests meet certain levels (confirm with trial site for specific values)
- If you are a woman who could become pregnant, you have a negative pregnancy test before starting and agree to use reliable contraception for 1 year after treatment, and you agree not to donate eggs for 1 year after treatment
- If you are a man who is sexually active with someone who could become pregnant, you agree to use reliable contraception for 1 year after treatment and agree not to donate sperm for 1 year after treatment
Who may not be able to join:
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- You have a significant medical condition, abnormal test results, or mental health condition that could make it unsafe or unsuitable for you to take part, in the opinion of the doctor running the trial
- You have tested positive for HIV, or have an active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection (a past treated hepatitis B or C infection may be acceptable if the virus is undetectable on testing)
- You have any uncontrolled active infection, including active tuberculosis
- You still have side effects from a previous treatment that have not improved to a mild level, with some exceptions such as hair loss
- You have previously had a stem cell transplant using cells from another person; or you had a stem cell transplant using your own cells within the past 12 weeks
- You received treatment for your disease within the 14 days before signing the consent form
- You received a cell-based therapy within the 28 days before signing the consent form
- You have been taking high-dose steroid tablets (above a certain daily amount) within the 7 days before signing the consent form, except for steroid creams applied to the skin
- You received any type of vaccine (live, inactivated, or mRNA) within the 4 weeks before signing the consent form
- You are allergic or have had a serious reaction to certain medications used in this trial or to a component of the study treatment called DMSO, or you have a history of a severe allergic reaction such as anaphylactic shock
- You have certain related blood or plasma conditions at the time of screening, including secondary plasma cell leukemia, Waldenström macroglobulinemia, POEMS syndrome, or primary light chain amyloidosis
- You have had certain serious heart problems within the 6 months before screening (confirm with trial site for specific conditions)
- You need extra oxygen to keep your oxygen levels stable, or you have a serious lung condition where your breathing test results fall below a certain level
- You have an active autoimmune disease — such as psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis — that requires ongoing immune-suppressing treatment
- You have or have had a second type of cancer within the past 2 years that required treatment or is not fully in remission (some exceptions apply, such as certain skin cancers or early-stage cancers that have been successfully treated)
- You have symptoms of cancer affecting the brain or nervous system, or it is suspected that cancer has spread there
- You have had major surgery within 2 weeks before signing the consent form, or you have major surgery planned during the study or within 4 weeks after receiving the study treatment (minor procedures like cataract surgery are excluded from this rule)
