Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are able to give written consent and follow the study's procedures
- People who live in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, Portugal
- People between the ages of 40 and 74 years old
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are younger than 40 or aged 75 and older
- People who are unable to give informed consent
- People who are not willing to provide a stool (poo) sample
- People who currently have an active cancer diagnosis
- People who have previously had colorectal cancer (cancer of the colon or rectum)
- People who have had colon polyps (growths) removed within the last 24 months
- People who have a parent, sibling, or child who has had colorectal cancer
- People who have been diagnosed with conditions affecting the bowel or gut, such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, persistent gut infections, long-term or recurring diarrhoea of unknown cause, or repeated infections with a bacteria called Clostridioides difficile
- People who have a medically diagnosed severe heart or cardiovascular condition
- People who have severe kidney failure requiring dialysis treatment
- People who have a severe lung disease
- People who are pregnant
