Who may be able to join
- People who are at least 18 years old.
- People who have voluntarily signed a consent form before taking part in the study.
- People whose physical functioning is rated 0 or 1 on a standard cancer performance scale (meaning they are fully active or have only minor limitations), with no worsening in the week before treatment, and who are expected to live at least 12 weeks.
- People who have been confirmed through tissue or cell testing to have advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (stage IIIB–IV) that cannot be cured with current treatments.
- People whose lung cancer has a specific gene change (EGFR mutation — either L858R or 19Del) confirmed through testing of tissue or body fluids such as blood, fluid around the lungs, abdominal fluid, or spinal fluid.
- People who have not previously received systemic treatment for their cancer, except where treatment was given before or after surgery, and only if the cancer did not return within 6 months of that treatment ending.
- People who have at least one measurable tumour in the lung that has not been treated with radiation, measuring at least 10 mm at its longest point (or at least 15 mm for lymph nodes), as assessed using standard imaging guidelines.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who have cancer that has spread to the membranes surrounding the brain or spinal cord, or who have both brain tumours and this type of membrane involvement.
- People who have a history of another separate type of cancer.
- People who have a known allergy or sensitivity to the study drugs (aumolertinib or osimertinib) or any of their ingredients.
- Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the treatment period.
- People whose overall health conditions — such as poorly controlled high blood pressure or active bleeding — may put them at risk or affect how the study results are assessed, as determined by the treating doctor (confirm with trial site).
