Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have regular menstrual cycles that occur every 24 to 35 days
  • People who are between 18 and 50 years old
  • People who are able to read and sign a written consent form

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have used psychiatric (mental health) medications in the past 2 months
  • People who have had a problem with drug or alcohol misuse in the past 2 months (as assessed using a standard clinical interview tool)
  • People who have ever been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder, such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or severe depression with psychotic features (as assessed using a standard clinical interview tool)
  • People who have had any psychiatric (mental health) diagnosis other than PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) in the past year (as assessed using a standard clinical interview tool)
  • People who have had active thoughts of suicide with a plan, or a suicide attempt, in the past 6 months
  • People who have used hormonal contraceptives or steroid hormone treatments in the past 2 months (note: levonorgestrel used as an emergency contraceptive is an exception — confirm with trial site)
  • People who have been pregnant in the past 6 months
  • People who have a history of brain injury
  • People who currently have or have had a hormonal or endocrine condition, such as poorly controlled diabetes or thyroid disease
  • People with a BMI (body mass index) over 40
