Who may be able to join

  • People aged 18 to 75 years, of any gender.
  • People who have been diagnosed with limited-stage small cell lung cancer (a type of lung cancer that has not spread widely), confirmed by a tissue sample, and who have not yet received any systemic cancer treatment.
  • People whose cancer is classified as stage I, II, or III, with all affected areas able to be treated within a manageable radiation plan.
  • People who are generally well enough to carry out daily activities with little or no limitation (as assessed by a standard medical scale called ECOG, scoring 0 or 1).
  • People who have completed a course of combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy (chemoradiotherapy) using platinum-based drugs and etoposide, and whose cancer responded to treatment or remained stable — with no sign of the cancer growing after treatment.
  • People whose first dose of the study drug is given within 1 to 42 days after completing chemoradiotherapy, and who may or may not have received preventive brain radiation (PCI), at the treating doctor's discretion.
  • People who are willing to provide blood samples before and after treatment for research purposes.
  • People whose blood test results show that their bone marrow, liver, kidney, and clotting functions are within the acceptable ranges set out by the trial (confirm specific values with the trial site).
  • People whose lung function tests show their lungs are working at or above the minimum levels required; if results are borderline, a short course of inhaled treatment and re-testing may allow eligibility to be reassessed (confirm with trial site).
  • People who are not able to become pregnant due to surgery, or who agree to use at least one medically approved form of contraception during the study and for 3 months after treatment ends.
  • Women who could potentially become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy blood test within 7 days before the first dose.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People whose lung cancer is confirmed to be a mixed type (containing more than 10% of another cell type).
  • People who have previously received any systemic cancer treatment for small cell lung cancer, any immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy, or any treatment targeting VEGF or VEGFR blood vessel growth proteins; people who have used traditional Chinese medicine for cancer treatment must have stopped at least 2 weeks before the first dose.
  • People who have extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (cancer that has spread more widely).
  • People whose cancer is at a surgically treatable stage (clinical stage T1-2N0), unless surgery is not possible for medical reasons or the person declines surgery.
  • People who have taken part in another clinical trial or received an experimental drug within 28 days before the first dose.
  • People who have fluid around the lungs that is found to contain cancer cells.
  • People with known or suspected scarring or inflammation of the lungs (such as interstitial lung disease, pulmonary fibrosis, or similar conditions) that could interfere with detecting or managing lung side effects from the study drug.
  • People with active, known, or suspected autoimmune diseases (conditions where the immune system attacks the body), such as myasthenia gravis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, or autoimmune hepatitis — although some well-controlled conditions may be considered eligible (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have had another cancer diagnosed within the past 5 years, with some exceptions for certain early-stage or fully treated cancers such as early cervical, skin, prostate, or breast conditions (confirm with trial site).
  • People with a significant history of heart or stroke-related conditions, including heart failure, unstable angina, serious heart rhythm problems, a heart attack or stroke within 3 months, or reduced heart pumping function below 50%.
  • People who have experienced a blood clot in a vein or artery (such as a deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism) within the past 6 months.
  • People whose blood pressure cannot be controlled to below 140/90 mmHg even with medication.
  • People who have had significant or ongoing bleeding (such as gastrointestinal bleeding or bleeding stomach ulcers) within the past 3 months.
  • People who have coughed up a meaningful amount of blood within the past 30 days.
  • People with a known inherited or acquired tendency to bleed or form clots abnormally (such as haemophilia or coagulation disorders).
  • People whose urine tests show high levels of protein (confirm specific levels with trial site).
  • People who have had a serious infection requiring hospital admission within the past 4 weeks, or who have an active infection requiring antibiotic treatment within the past 2 weeks.
  • People with evidence of active tuberculosis within the past year, or a history of active tuberculosis that was not properly treated.
  • People with a history of immune deficiency, including those who test positive for HIV.
  • People with active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infections, as defined by specific blood test results (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have received immune-suppressing medications within the past 14 days (such as steroids or certain other drugs), with some exceptions for low-dose or inhaled forms (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have had major surgery within the past 28 days, or who are expected to need major surgery during the study; also people who have had minor diagnostic or minimally invasive procedures within the past 7 days.
  • People who have received a live vaccine within the past 28 days, or who are expected to need one during the study.
  • People who have previously had a bone marrow transplant or an organ transplant from another person.
  • People with a known allergy or serious reaction to the study drugs or any of their ingredients.
  • People with known psychiatric conditions, alcoholism, or drug or substance misuse.
  • People who, in the treating doctor's judgement, may not be able to safely complete the study for any other reason, including serious medical conditions, significant test result abnormalities, or personal circumstances that could affect safety or data collection.
