Who might be able to join this trial:

This trial has three groups. People may be considered for one of the following:

Group 1 – Colorectal cancer patients with cachexia (significant unintended weight loss):

  • Adults aged 18 or older
  • People who have lost more than 5% of their body weight unintentionally in the last 6 months, OR lost more than 2% of their body weight unintentionally along with a low body weight (BMI under 20), OR lost more than 2% of their body weight unintentionally along with significant muscle loss
  • People whose cachexia staging score (a medical measure of weight loss severity) falls between 5 and 12 (confirm with trial site)

Group 2 – Colorectal cancer patients without significant weight loss:

  • Adults aged 18 or older
  • People who have not experienced the levels of unintended weight loss described in Group 1
  • People whose cachexia staging score falls between 0 and 2 (confirm with trial site)

Group 3 – Healthy individuals (no cancer):

  • Adults aged 18 or older

Who may not be able to join:

The following criteria apply to all three groups:

  • People with a mental health or psychological condition
  • People who do not have sufficient knowledge of the Dutch language
  • People with a muscle disease that affects the spine or lower limbs
  • People who are bedridden and unable to move around independently
