Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have spots or growths in the lining of your lungs (pleura) that doctors suspect could be mesothelioma, and you have been referred for a biopsy of that area.
- You have had or are currently having a type of scan called an FDG PET/CT scan as part of investigating the suspicious area.
- You are considered physically and mentally well enough to take part in the study.
- You are able to understand the information given about the study and agree to take part.
- You are 18 years old or older.
Who may not be able to join:
- You urgently need surgery or are in an emergency situation.
- You have been diagnosed with another type of cancer (other than certain skin cancers or early-stage cervical cancer) and have received treatment for it within the last year.
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You are a woman who could potentially become pregnant and your pregnancy status is not confirmed — though you may still be able to join if a pregnancy test taken within 48 hours before the study scans comes back negative.
- You are unable to have a PET/CT scan for any reason, such as weighing more than 180 kg, not being able to fit in the scanner, being unable to lie still during the scan, or having severe claustrophobia or a severe fear of needles that cannot be managed.
- You have any other health condition or personal circumstance that the study doctor believes could affect the reliability of the study results or your ability to complete the study (confirm with trial site).
- You have previously had an allergic reaction to the types of tracers (special substances) used in the PET/CT scans involved in this study.
