Healthy volunteers:

Stroke patients:

Who may not be able to join:
For healthy volunteers:
- People who have epilepsy, or whose close family members have epilepsy
- People who have any metal objects, electrical stimulators, or implants in their body
- People who have, or have previously had, a psychiatric disorder, severe depression, suicidal thoughts, or a history of suicide attempts
- People who have a history of cancer
- People who have had a serious brain injury or a stroke
- People who have, or have previously had, a drug addiction
- People born with a difference in the development of one or both arms
- People with differences in how their brain or nervous system developed
- People who are pregnant
For stroke patients, all of the above apply, plus:
- People who have a serious ongoing physical health condition
- People who have a severe bone or joint deformity in the affected limb
- People who have an active infection involving pus or blood poisoning (sepsis)
