Who may be able to join
- People who have recently been diagnosed with stage III or IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), confirmed by a tissue sample.
- People with stage III or IV NSCLC without cancer spread to the brain who have a specific genetic mutation identified through a standard lung cancer genetic test called PULMOL.
- People who are receiving or have received radiation treatment and/or drug treatment for their lung cancer at Ohio State University.
- People whose doctors estimate they are likely to live for at least one year.
- People for whom a lumbar puncture (a procedure to collect fluid from around the spine) is considered medically safe.
Who may not be able to join
Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.
- People who have Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or a mental disability.
- People who are unable to have an MRI scan.
- People who have an allergy to xylocaine or any numbing (local anaesthetic) medication used during a lumbar puncture.
- People who have had a previous cancer diagnosis before their current lung cancer diagnosis.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or women who could become pregnant and men who are sexually active, where neither is willing or able to use medically acceptable contraception — this is because the standard treatments involved in this trial may have unknown effects on an unborn baby.
