  • People who regularly take anti-anxiety medications, sleeping pills, or pain relief medications before the procedure.
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding at the time of the procedure.
  • People who have serious corneal disease, a very advanced cataract, very small pupils, or a displaced lens that makes standard surgery more difficult.
  • People who are unable to fully cooperate during surgery performed under eye-drop anaesthesia.
  • People who are pregnant or possibly pregnant — women under 55 years old will be asked about this by the research team.
