Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18
- People currently experiencing moderate to severe depression, based on a standard depression questionnaire score above 11 (called the PHQ-9-M)
- People currently experiencing a significant loss of interest or pleasure in activities, based on a specific question on the same depression questionnaire
- People who can read, write, and speak English well enough to take part in the study activities
- People who are willing to download a study app on their smartphone
Who may not be able to join:
- People who show signs of mania (extremely elevated or irritable mood), psychosis (losing touch with reality), or a developmental disability that would make it difficult to understand and follow the study procedures — as determined through medical record review and a phone screening call
