Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have signed an informed consent form agreeing to take part
- People aged between 18 and 79 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy – Parkinsonian type (MSA-P), confirmed using recognised diagnostic guidelines; OR people diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease (PD) who also experience symptoms of low blood pressure when standing up, as measured by a specific questionnaire called the SCOPA-AUT (questions 14, 15, and 16)
- People who are currently taking a medication known as Dopamine-Replacement Therapy — specifically Levodopa combined with either Carbidopa or Benserazide
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to go without their fast-acting Dopamine-Replacement Therapy for at least 12 hours overnight (and whose slow-release or extended-release form of the medication must have been taken at least 24 hours before a scheduled test)
- People with a known serious heart condition called congestive heart failure, specifically at more advanced stages (grades C and D, or NYHA class III and IV)
- People with significant memory or thinking difficulties (dementia) related to their MSA-P or Parkinson's Disease diagnosis
- People with mild thinking or memory difficulties who are not able to fully understand or agree to the consent process
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant
