Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease (Parkinson's disease with no known outside cause)
- People between the ages of 21 and 75
- People who are able to walk at least 50 metres on their own, without using a walking aid such as a cane
- People who have had a specific Medtronic Percept™ brain stimulation device implanted
- People whose brain stimulation device has been switched on and active for at least 3 months
- People from undervalued, under-represented, or disadvantaged communities may be included
- Active military service members and Department of Defense (DoD) personnel, including civilian employees, may be included
- People from groups that face disadvantages in accessing things like income, housing, or healthcare may be included
Who may not be able to join:
- People who meet the diagnosis criteria for Lewy body dementia, Multiple System Atrophy, Alzheimer's disease, or another neurodegenerative condition
- People with a history of seizures or other significant brain or nervous system conditions that could affect their participation in the study
- People with a history of bone, joint, or muscle problems that significantly affect walking or limb movement — though in some cases, participation in certain parts of the study may still be possible (confirm with trial site)
- People with a history of neck or back muscle conditions, including whiplash, that could affect walking-related parts of the study
- People with a history of vision or balance/inner ear conditions that could affect their participation or performance in the study
- People whose ability to give informed consent is assessed as reduced, based on a two-stage assessment process used by the trial team
- People who are pregnant
- People who have experienced complications or side effects from their brain stimulation device surgery that could affect safety or the accuracy of study results
