Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are malnourished or at risk of malnutrition, have been diagnosed with cancer or tumours affecting the pancreas, the area around it, or the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine), and have had a specific type of surgery called a cephalic pancreaticoduodenectomy (a major operation to remove part of the pancreas and surrounding tissue).
- People who have not received chemotherapy or radiotherapy before their surgery.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are not willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study.
- People whose surgery took place more than three months ago.
- People who have serious heart disease, serious kidney disease, or other severe ongoing health conditions that could affect nutrition or the ability to tolerate nutritional treatment.
- People who have diarrhoea caused by antibiotics, laxatives, or other medications that draw water into the gut.
- People who are already receiving other nutritional support, such as another oral nutritional supplement, tube feeding, or nutrition given through a drip into a vein.
- People who are pregnant or who may become pregnant during the study.
- People who have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes where a specific blood sugar control measure (HbA1c) is above 8% (confirm with trial site).
- People who have galactosaemia (inability to process a sugar called galactose), fructosaemia (inability to process fructose), or known allergies to any ingredient in the nutritional supplement being studied.
