Who might be able to join this trial:

For Alzheimer's disease:

  • You are male or female, between 50 and 75 years old
  • You or your legal representative has signed and dated a consent form agreeing to take part
  • You have been diagnosed mainly with mild memory and thinking problems or dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease
  • A special brain scan (amyloid PET scan) has shown a positive result for Alzheimer's-related protein buildup in the brain
  • Your score on a depression assessment (HAMD) is 17 or below, meaning depression is absent or mild
  • Your score on a test that helps tell Alzheimer's from other causes of memory loss (Hachinski score) is 4 or below

For Parkinson's disease:

  • You are male or female, between 50 and 80 years old
  • You or your legal representative has signed and dated a consent form agreeing to take part
  • You have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease or probable Parkinson's disease based on recognised diagnostic guidelines
  • Your Parkinson's symptoms are rated at stage I–IV on a standard scale measuring how much the disease affects movement and daily life
  • You have had a documented history of Parkinson's disease for between 2 and 5 years or more, to confirm a stable diagnosis

Who may not be able to join:

  • You cannot have an MRI scan, a certain type of eye/vessel imaging (ICG angiography), or a PET scan for any reason
  • You cannot safely have a lumbar puncture (a procedure to collect fluid from around the spine)
  • You have serious problems with a major organ, such as your heart, lungs, kidneys, or liver
  • A recent MRI scan has shown active or serious brain problems, such as an infection, a tumour, significant bleeding, or multiple small bleeds in the brain
  • You have a blood or clotting disorder that raises your risk of bleeding in the brain
  • You have a thyroid condition that is not well controlled
  • You have a disease affecting the blood vessels in your brain or throughout your body
  • You have serious heart disease or an unstable heart condition
  • You have severely high blood pressure that is not under control
  • You have a problem with substance use, including illegal drugs, certain medications, or alcohol dependence
  • You have an active serious infection, including HIV, or a critical acute infection
  • You have a severe mental health condition or a significant risk of suicide
  • You regularly use sleeping tablets or sedatives more than twice a week for over a month
  • You have a cancer that has not been treated or fully cleared
  • You have taken part in another interventional clinical trial in the last 3 months
  • You are unable or unwilling to attend the follow-up appointments scheduled after the procedure
  • There are other reasons the trial investigators decide make participation unsuitable for you (confirm with trial site)
