Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 12 to 17 years old
- People whose primary concern is depression and/or anxiety, as confirmed by their treating doctor
- People whose doctor is planning to start them on a new SSRI (a type of antidepressant medication)
- People who are fluent in English
Who may not be able to join:
- People who also have obsessive compulsive disorder, psychosis, bipolar disorder, an eating disorder, autism spectrum disorder, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, or an intellectual disability
- People whose treating doctor confirms they have tried 3 or more different SSRI medications in the past without success
- People who have started a brain stimulation-based therapy (such as TMS) within 8 weeks before being referred to the trial, or who plan to start or change a brain stimulation therapy during the study
- People who have previously had a liver transplant or a blood stem cell transplant
- People who have previously had specific genetic tests related to how the body processes certain medications (known as CYP2B6, CYP2C19, or CYP2D6 testing — confirm with trial site if unsure whether this applies)
