Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who already show signs that the cancer has spread to other parts of the body at the time of their first assessment.
  • People who are currently taking antioxidant vitamin supplements, including vitamins A, C, or E.
  • People who already have nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) caused by conditions such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, autoimmune diseases, or hepatitis C.
  • People who have diabetes.
  • People who have inflammatory conditions such as ulcerative colitis or rheumatoid arthritis.
  • People who smoke or have conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (a long-term lung condition) (confirm full list with trial site).
  • People who have active liver disease, such as cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, or hepatitis C.
  • People who have a muscle disease (myopathy).
  • People who have reduced kidney function, including those with end-stage kidney disease or those receiving dialysis.
  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • People who are currently taking certain medications, including diltiazem, metoprolol, enalapril, nitroglycerin, warfarin, clopidogrel, aspirin, statins, fibrates, or tricyclic antidepressants (confirm full list with trial site).
