Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children between 6 months and 18 years old who have a severe neurological impairment (from any cause) and are experiencing pain and irritability that cannot be explained
- Children whose thinking or communication difficulties make it impossible to determine where their pain is, what is causing it, or what type of pain it is
- Children who have cognitive (thinking and learning) impairment or who are non-verbal (unable to speak)
- Parents or guardians who have enough English skills, or have someone to help them, to attend clinic visits and complete surveys
- General pediatricians (children's doctors) who practice at a community clinic in British Columbia
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who are outside the age range of 6 months to 18 years old
- Children who are able to communicate and have enough cognitive development to point to or describe where their pain is
- Children whose pain and irritability already has a known and treatable cause
- Parents or guardians who do not have sufficient English skills and do not have access to someone who can assist them with clinic visits and surveys
- Healthcare professionals who are not general pediatricians, such as specialist pediatricians, nurse practitioners, nurses, or other allied health professionals
