Who may be able to join

  • People who have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease, confirmed through clinical assessment, endoscopy, and tissue examination.

Who may not be able to join

  • People whose dose of biologic medicines, immunosuppressants, or corticosteroids was changed within the three months before enrolment.
  • People who are taking other medicines at the same time that may affect their disease activity, such as additional anti-inflammatory drugs or antibiotics used for their bowel condition.
  • People with serious heart, kidney, or liver disease, or other significant medical conditions that could interfere with the study.
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • People who have a known allergy or intolerance to mesalamine (5-ASA) or similar medicines.
  • People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial that may interfere with this study.
  • People who are unable to give informed consent or who are unlikely to be able to follow the study protocol and visit schedule.
  • People who have previously not responded to, or could not tolerate, their current biologic or immunosuppressant treatment.
  • People who have a history of severe psychiatric conditions that may affect their ability to take part in the study.
