Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 to 65 (male or female) who have been seen at Ahi Evran University's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation clinic and have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome through both a clinical examination and a nerve conduction test (EMG)
  • People who are able to understand the study information provided to them and can communicate and cooperate with the research team
  • People who have given their written agreement to take part in the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a pinched nerve in the neck (cervical radiculopathy)
  • People who have widespread nerve damage affecting multiple nerves throughout the body (polyneuropathy)
  • People who have damage or problems with the network of nerves running from the neck into the arm (brachial plexopathy)
  • People who are currently using steroid medications taken by mouth or injection (systemic corticosteroids)
  • People who have had a fracture or injury to the forearm or wrist on the side being treated
  • People who have an inflammatory rheumatic disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People who have certain ongoing health conditions, including kidney failure, peptic ulcers, diabetes, an underactive thyroid, or blood clotting disorders
  • People who have previously had surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome
  • People who have thoracic outlet syndrome (a condition where nerves or blood vessels in the upper chest are compressed)
  • People who have severe carpal tunnel syndrome, including muscle wasting at the base of the thumb (thenar atrophy)
  • People who are unwilling or unable to participate for any reason
