Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with a medium-sized rotator cuff tear (between 1 and 3 centimetres) confirmed by an MRI scan, and who are already scheduled to have surgery to repair it
• People between the ages of 40 and 75 years old
• People who can read and speak Turkish well enough to understand the consent forms and complete the study questionnaires
• People who score 24 or higher on a standard memory and thinking test (called the MMSE), showing they are able to fully participate in the study

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have had a corticosteroid (steroid) injection in the affected area within the last 6 weeks
• People who have a condition called adhesive capsulitis (sometimes called "frozen shoulder"), where the shoulder has lost a significant amount of its ability to rotate outward
• People who have previously had surgery on their neck, upper back, or shoulder
• People who have cervical radiculopathy — a condition where a nerve in the neck is irritated, causing pain or tingling that travels down the arm
• People who have problems with the small joint at the top of the shoulder (acromioclavicular joint) or shoulder instability that is causing shoulder pain
• People who have a complete (full-thickness) tear of the rotator cuff
• People who have calcium deposits in the shoulder tendons (a condition called calcific tendinitis)
• People who have a systemic illness such as inflammatory arthritis or cancer, or a neurological condition such as fibromyalgia
• People who have a fracture, a labral injury, or a biceps tendon injury in the affected shoulder
• People who have previously taken part in a psychological pain management program, or who experience widespread pain throughout the body
