Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have anxiety and depression symptoms that fall within a specific mid-range score on standard rating scales (not too mild, not too severe — confirm exact score range with trial site).
• You have never taken psychiatric medications, or you stopped taking them at least 6 months ago.
• You are between 18 and 65 years old (any gender).
• You are mentally alert, have normal thinking and memory, and can communicate, read, express yourself, and manage daily tasks on your own.
• You are willing and able to provide blood and stool (poo) samples as part of the study.
• You are joining voluntarily and are willing to sign a consent form before the study begins.

Who may not be able to join:

• You have been formally diagnosed with an anxiety disorder or depression based on standard medical diagnostic criteria.
• You have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a condition involving psychosis (such as schizophrenia), or a brain-related condition affecting mental function (such as Alzheimer's disease).
• You have had alcohol or substance misuse problems in the past year, are currently taking psychiatric medications, or are considered at high risk of suicide.
• You have a serious or unstable physical health condition, including problems with your immune system, hormones, or other major illnesses.
• You have any physical or mental limitation that would prevent you from taking part in a traditional Chinese movement and breathing exercise programme (confirm with trial site).
• You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
