Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People whose cancer has been found to be locally advanced and cannot be removed by surgery, confirmed by CT or MRI scan and a surgical assessment, after receiving standard chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy
- People who have not had chemotherapy or radiotherapy within 5 weeks before the planned treatment with the NanoKnife device
- People whose blood clotting test result (INR) is below 1.5
- People who are able and willing to follow the study requirements
- People who understand and are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose kidney function test (creatinine) result is above 2.0 mg/dL
- People with certain abnormal blood test results that fall into a serious category (Grade 3 or 4) based on a standard medical scale (confirm with trial site)
- People who are unable to stop blood-thinning medications (such as aspirin-type drugs or warfarin/coumadin) for 7 days before and 7 days after the treatment
- People whose tumour cannot be measured
- People with a known allergy to contrast dye used in scans that cannot be managed medically
- People with a known allergy to the metal used in the treatment electrodes (stainless steel 304L) that cannot be managed medically
- People who cannot receive muscle-relaxing medications used during the procedure
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- People who are capable of becoming pregnant and are not using an accepted form of contraception
- People who have taken part in another experimental drug or device study within the past 30 days
- People who have an implanted heart pacemaker or defibrillator
- People who have implanted electronic devices or metal implants near the area to be treated
- People with a history of epilepsy or irregular heart rhythms (such as atrial or ventricular fibrillation)
- People who have had a heart attack within the past 2 months
- People with a particular heart rhythm measurement (Q-T interval) greater than 550 ms, unless a specific synchronisation device is used with the NanoKnife system (confirm with trial site)
- People who have evidence that their cancer has spread to distant parts of the body (Stage IV)
- People who have received chemotherapy within 5 weeks before the planned treatment
- People who have received certain types of high-dose or short-course radiation therapy, such as stereotactic radiation (5 or fewer sessions) or conventional radiation above 54 Gray
