Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 18 and 75 years of age (any sex)
- People who have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, meaning their blood pressure readings were 140/90 mmHg or higher on at least two separate occasions
- People who have been taking at least one blood pressure medication from a specific group of drugs (including ACE inhibitors, ARBs, beta-blockers, certain calcium channel blockers, or water tablets/diuretics) for 4 weeks or more in a row
- People who have been fully informed about the study and are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose high blood pressure is caused by another known medical condition (such as a narrowing of the blood vessels near the kidneys, certain hormone-producing tumours, or specific hormonal disorders) — note that sleep apnoea is not an automatic exclusion (confirm with trial site)
- People with serious heart, liver, or kidney problems, or severe infections — for example, advanced heart failure, significantly abnormal liver test results, poor kidney function, or serious infections such as sepsis or severe pneumonia
- People who have had a major heart or stroke event in the past 3 months
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People currently taking certain other medications that can affect hormone levels related to blood pressure, including some contraceptive pills, hormone replacement therapy, steroid medicines, anti-inflammatory painkillers (such as aspirin or ibuprofen), or certain antipsychotic medicines
- People who do not have the ability to make or act on independent decisions
- People with a history of psychiatric disorders
- People who are considered unlikely to follow the study requirements consistently enough to complete it
