Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Men and women aged 35 or older who have been diagnosed with high blood pressure (with or without medication for it), as recorded in their medical records
  • People with a body mass index (BMI) between 27 and 40, meaning they are in the overweight or obese range
  • People whose daily activity level is classified as "light" or "inactive" based on a physical activity questionnaire

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with severe narrowing of the heart's aortic valve that is causing symptoms
  • People currently experiencing an acute blood clot in the lungs, or active inflammation of the heart or surrounding tissue, or a current infection with symptoms such as fever, muscle pain, or swollen glands
  • People with a suspected or confirmed tear in the main artery leading from the heart (aortic dissection)
  • People with very high blood pressure readings (above 180/110 mmHg), regardless of whether they have symptoms
  • People with unstable heart disease, including unstable chest pain, poorly managed stable chest pain, or a heart attack within the past 8 weeks
  • People with an irregular heartbeat that is uncontrolled and causing symptoms
  • People with heart failure that is uncontrolled and causing symptoms
  • People who have an implanted pacemaker or implanted heart defibrillator device
  • People who are pregnant
  • People whose smartphone is not compatible with the Fitrockr© app (iPhones running iOS older than version 16, or Android phones running a version older than Android 10)
  • People who are unable to communicate in Swedish or English
  • People with a severe mental illness or significant cognitive impairment that may make it difficult to follow the trial's requirements (confirm with trial site)
  • People who are unable to walk up and down stairs
